How We Listen

Unity Foundation believes that the communities we serve hold the most important knowledge about what works. Our program design is not handed down from the top — it is shaped continuously by the students, families, educators, and community partners who experience it directly.

How We Collect Feedback

A direct line between what participants experience and what we build next — not a survey that informs a report that informs a meeting.

  • Session check-ins
    End-of-session student check-ins by program instructors at the conclusion of each Smart Greenhouse session.
  • Year-end reflections
    Written reflections in which students document learning growth and offer program suggestions.
  • Partner liaisons
    District curriculum coordinators, principals, and contacts relay district- and student-level feedback each academic semester.
  • Annual surveys
    Participant surveys deployed at the close of each program year.

How Feedback Shapes Our Programs

Partner District Curriculum Restructure

In 2024–2025, our launch partner district communicated that the original Pilot Year curriculum scope did not fit within their existing scheduling model. In direct response, Unity Foundation restructured the Pilot Year to a condensed session model adapted for the district's constraints — documented in the official program materials.

AI Literacy Strand

Feedback from Boys & Girls Club instructors regarding digital literacy gaps among SLIP participants led Unity Foundation to develop a supplemental AI-focused curriculum strand — addressing a gap identified by frontline educators, not organizational leadership.

The ecosystem grows because the people inside it help shape it. That is not a program feature. It is how the model was designed to work.
