Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Action

We know that All of Us Is Better Than Any One of Us, so we apply the principles of inclusion, diversity, equity, and action (IDEA) in all we do. 

Inclusion

In these values, Unity knows no enemies. Unity believes in the inherent goodness and beauty in all human beings. We believe "All of Us Is Better Than Any One of Us." We do not believe that any one person has all of the answers regarding personal, family, social, political, or transcendent questions and decisions. 

Diversity

In its realization of diversity, Unity chooses decentralized decision-making, systems, and systems of systems. All Unity assets must be developed in full view of everyone, encouraging maximum participation and experimentation. Decisions are by consensus as much as possible, with transparent, participatory processes. An essential check for all Unity initiatives is whether they are respectful and advance human rights.

Equity

All Unity software solutions are open source and promote open systems as an essential premise because this significantly reduces the risk of Unity work being co-opted into licensed products inaccessible to communities with fewer resources. Open solutions develop and promote software for which the source code is made freely available and may be redistributed and modified according to local community needs. This organically promotes equity for all participants.

Action

The concepts of inclusion, diversity, and equity have no effect until they are put into action. Positive steps must be taken and resources must be committed to turn these words into reality. There will be no value or impact without strong action. It is expected that all members of and collaborators with Unity will take the initiative to act with inclusion, diversity, and equity at the forefront in all they do.
